Description:
Durand Jones, frontman of the contemporary R&B/soul group Durand Jones & the Indications, completes his debut solo album. A sensitive, personal work that reflects on his hometown and his own life, Wait Til I Get Over, is released Durand Jones' Wait Til I Get Over is a memoir and a love letter. It is the story of Jones' life, his growth and confessions, and his insight into his hometown, an insight that only came once he left it. In his work, he writes of the contradictions of Hillaryville: the pristine beauty and ragged streets, his teenage desire to leave the city and his adult desire to honor his roots, the history of the plantations, the ups and downs of the black community in the city of reparations. A part of me will be left behind in my hometown. If I'm making something that my younger self would be proud of, Hillaryville is a big part of it," Jones says. In his memories of Hillaryville and the life he has led since then, he sees something transformative and finally claims his all.It is about embracing it. As a result, the work became sensitive and personal as it touched on Jones' relationship with church life, his relationship with his mother, his relationship with queerness, and his relationship with his self-worth.
