• Carmelita Vigil Dunlap (1925-1999)
• Black-on-black ware is a 20th and 21st-century pottery tradition developed by Puebloan Native American ceramic artists in Northern New Mexico. Traditional reduction-fired blackware has been made for centuries by Pueblo artists.
• In 1974, she was one of the pueblo potters invited by President and Mrs. Nixon to visit the White House and one of her large pots was displayed at that time at the Smithsonian Institution.
• Her pottery can be found in museums across the country including the NMAI and the Denver Art Museum.
